In my opinion, this article is
quite interesting to read. It has the good points that connected with the issue
which is steps of highly cool people. However, some of the points do not have
the strong facts to support it. It is mostly based on the author’s opinions. I
also think that the author is a healthy individual because he knows how to have
a healthy lifestyle. Besides that, there are a few fallacies that I found in
this article. The first one is appeal to emotion that is “Because I am adult
and I know better”. So, does the eldest decision always right? There is also
clearly use of appeal to inappropriate authority. “Well, actually, it is
because I am The Guru of Cool “. Does the author is truly an expert in this
area?
The
other fallacy is slippery slope. “Smoking is really bad for health. It makes
your teeth go yellow and gives the pungent stench to your sweat. It is an
expensive habit too”. The author states about the terrible effects of smoking.
Through the statement “I know, I know, some of you are allowed to drink alcohol
when you come of age “,it is appeal tradition. Furthermore,
through the statement of “we have actually found traces of poison in Ecstasy “,
it is appeal to ignorance”, but there is no prove about it. Lastly, I think the
article is quite good. Some of the points are excellent but, the others are
acceptable.
