After reading the article, I can conclude that the article is promoting a way of healthy life. The author use the word ‘cool’ in this article because the author thinks that when teenagers practice a healthy lifestyle, that can make them a cool teenager. The steps that the author stated are about social lifestyle that teenagers practice nowadays. For the first point, he states ‘smoking is really bad for health. It makes your teeth go yellow and gives a pungent stench to your sweat. It is an expensive habit too’. The author uses the fallacy of slippery slope in this claim. Furthermore, the steps and points that the author stated in this article are lack of proof. For example in the fifth point, the fallacy of appeal to ignorance is implied in the statement of ‘we have actually found traces of rat poison in Ecstasy.’ The author focuses on teenagers because he is an adult. He claims himself as ‘The Guru of Cool’ because he thinks he is cool. I think he had practiced the seven steps during his teenage days. For me, the author is silly because does not mean he think he is cool enough, people has to follow him to be one. His statement is relates to the fallacy of begging the question. But, on whole I think this article is good to read for teenagers to become wiser person. Teenagers who apply these steps in their life, I would not call them cool but a gentleman.
